Reverse description The quartered royal arms of Spain displayed within an ornate escutcheon surmounted by the Spanish royal crown, the shield incorporating the castles of Castile, the lions of León, the chains of Navarre, the fleurs-de-lis of the Anjou-Bourbon dynasty, the pomegranate of Granada, and the arms of Portugal. The denomination numeral 8 appears to the left of the shield and the mint mark S to the right, with the assayer initials MFA positioned at the base. The entire central device is encircled by the collar of the Order of the Golden Fleece, and the circumferential Latin legend AUSPICE DEO IN UTROQUE FELIX runs around the periphery within a toothed border.
