Obverse description The Argentine coat of arms — an oval escutcheon displaying the Phrygian cap atop a pike above hands joined in handshake, surmounted by a radiant sun — occupies the central field, flanked by the denomination figures '8' and 'E' at the base. The arms are encircled by a wreath of laurel and olive branches tied at the bottom with a ribbon. The mint mark 'B' and assayer initial 'R', along with the date '1845', appear in the lower legend. A circular Latin legend reading REPUB·ARGENT·CONFEDERADA runs around the periphery, separated by dot stops.
