Obverse description Central view of the facade of the newly consecrated Salzburg Cathedral dominates the field, with the date divided on either side. Saint Rupert stands at left and Saint Virgilius at right, flanking the cathedral. Below the central design, the arms of Salzburg divide the encircling legend. The legend, commencing at approximately 7 o'clock, reads in Latin and records the dedication of the Metropolitan Church of Salzburg by Archbishop Paris on 25 September 1628.
