Obverse description Bare-headed, bearded bust of Johann Ulrich, Prince of Eggenberg and Duke of Krummau, facing right, wearing an elaborate ruff collar and richly decorated armour, the portrait rendered in high relief with exceptional detail. The bust is enclosed within a plain inner circle. The circumferential legend reads IO·VIDAL·D·G·D· to the right and CRVEN·PRINCS· to the left, with a mintmaster's mark visible at the base of the bust. The engraving displays the refined Renaissance portrait style characteristic of early seventeenth-century South German and Bohemian medallic art.
