Reverse description A detailed frontal view of Salzburg Cathedral rendered in fine relief occupies the central field, its Baroque facade with twin towers and central dome depicted with architectural precision. To the left stands the mitred figure of Saint Rupert, patron saint of Salzburg, and to the right the mitred figure of Saint Virgil, co-patron, each vested in full episcopal regalia. Cherub heads and small attribute symbols appear in the lower field beneath clouds. The entire composition is enclosed within a laurel wreath border, with the circumferential Latin legend invoking the two saints as patrons of Salzburg.
