| Reverse description | Two rabbits rendered in high relief dominate the reverse design: one alert rabbit with ears erect stands in the foreground, while a second rabbit stretches upward toward a budding branch, evoking the vitality and renewal associated with the Year of the Rabbit in the Chinese lunar calendar. A traditional Chinese clerical-script character for rabbit (兔) appears to the right of the central composition. The word RABBIT is inscribed in Latin script, accompanied by the date 2023 and the Perth Mint's P mintmark, with the designer's initials IJ also present. The finely detailed naturalistic imagery is set against a frosted proof field, consistent with the Perth Mint's Lunar Series high-relief presentation. |

| Additional information |
The 2023 Rabbit falls in the second year of the Perth Mint's sixth-portrait lunar series, which also marked the first full calendar year of posthumous Elizabeth II coinage following her death in September 2022. The Mint had already committed to the sixth Jody Clark portrait for this series before the Queen's death, leaving the 2023 issues in an awkward administrative position — struck after accession of Charles III but bearing the likeness of his mother under standing contractual and design approvals.
High-relief production at this weight requires significantly greater die pressure and slower output, which is why mintages on these pieces are capped well below the standard lunar releases.
