India's G20 Presidency ran from December 2022 through November 2023, the first time the country held the chair. The commemorative was authorized under the standard framework the Indian government uses for high-profile diplomatic occasions, struck in .500 fineness — a step down from the .999 silver used in earlier Indian commemoratives, a cost-containment decision that has drawn consistent criticism from collectors.
The ₹75 face value denomination has become the Indian mint's default for prestige issues since the 75th Independence Anniversary coin of 2022.
