Obverse description The Lion Capital of Ashoka, India's national emblem, is depicted centrally in the upper field, showing three lions passant above an abacus bearing the Dharma Chakra (wheel). The national motto 'सत्यमेव जयते' (Satyameva Jayate, meaning 'Truth Alone Triumphs') appears in Devanagari script immediately below the emblem.
