Obverse description The central field displays the national arms of Oman — two crossed khanjar daggers overlaid on a pair of crossed swords — rendered in fine relief against a polished ground. The Arabic legend arching along the upper periphery reads 'Qabus bin Sa`id' (Sultan's name), while the lower legend reads 'Sultan of Oman', flanking the Hijri date 1397 in Eastern Arabic numerals. A beaded border runs along the inner edge of the rim, framing the entire design.
