The Sociedade Numismática Paranaense has issued a series of privately produced fantasy notes — collector pieces with no monetary authority behind them — commemorating Brazilian historical anniversaries. This example marks the bicentennial of the Portuguese royal court's transfer to Rio de Janeiro in 1808, when João VI fled Napoleon's invasion of Iberia with a convoy of ships carrying upwards of ten thousand courtiers, officials, and hangers-on. That migration effectively transformed Brazil from a colony into an administrative seat of empire overnight.
Fagner Máximo da Silveira has produced designs for several SNP issues. The 75 réis denomination is purely nominal — a numismatic in-joke, since the real (plural réis) was the currency unit of that period.
