Fürstenberg an der Havel sits in what was then Mecklenburg-Strelitz, and this 75 Pfennig Notgeld piece dates to the inflationary pressure years before the catastrophic hyperinflation of 1923 fully took hold. Municipal councils across Germany were issuing their own small-denomination emergency money from roughly 1914 onward because Reichsbank coin simply vanished from circulation — hoarded, melted, or exported — leaving towns to fill the gap themselves.
The Stadtrat authorization gives this note a civil rather than commercial character. Issued by town council resolution rather than a local savings bank or merchant association, which was common enough but worth noting for provenance purposes.
