Winzeldorf is a small locality in Holstein, and like hundreds of similarly minor German municipalities, it issued emergency paper money — Notgeld — during the acute coin shortage that gripped Germany from around 1916 onward. The 75 Pfennig denomination is slightly unusual for municipal Notgeld, which more commonly ran to round figures; it suggests the issuer was trying to cover a specific transactional gap rather than simply flooding local circulation with generic small change.
Konrad Hanf of Hamburg was a commercial printer who handled Notgeld commissions for numerous north German municipalities during this period, producing functional rather than collectible pieces.
