| Obverse description | The note is framed by a checkered border throughout. Upper and lower registers carry two rows of chess pieces rendered in letterpress vignettes on a chequered board pattern, flanked at upper left by a vignette of the Leuchtenburg castle and at upper right by a heraldic dragon, while the lower left corner bears a palm frond and pine cone motif with the printer's imprint. The central field is divided between the left, bearing multi-line text referencing the XXIXth Congress of the Thuringian Chess Federation held from 9 to 12 July 1921 at the Leuchtenburg near Kahla on the Saale, and the right, where the denomination 'DREIVIERTEL MARK' appears above the validity clause and a manuscript signature of the congress directorate; at centre, a diamond-shaped chequered vignette carries the interlaced monogram 'TSB'. The denomination '75 Pfennig' is rendered in large calligraphic numerals at lower right. |
