Kahla's second Leuchtenburg series distinguishes itself by featuring Burg Saaleck rather than the dominant castle the series is named for — a deliberate choice to document the broader Saale valley fortifications rather than simply repeat the obvious motif. Saaleck, the smaller of the twin hilltop ruins near Bad Kösen, is frequently confused with its neighbor Rudelsburg in secondary references, making correct attribution on notgeld material worth noting.
J. P. Himmer of Augsburg handled a significant volume of Thuringian notgeld during the 1921 inflation surge. The watermarked stock is the distinguishing feature separating this issue from otherwise visually similar Kahla printings.
