Rellingen is a small municipality in Schleswig-Holstein, and like hundreds of German towns it issued Notgeld during the hyperinflationary collapse of 1921–1923 when the Reichsbank could not keep fractional coinage in circulation. The 75 Pfennig denomination is slightly unusual — most small-town issues clustered around 25, 50, and 1 Mark — suggesting either a specific local pricing need or a collector-series strategy, both of which were common as municipalities discovered that hobbyists would pay face value for notes never intended to circulate.
