Belgard — today Białogard in northwestern Poland — was a mid-sized Pomeranian town, and its municipal savings bank, the Sparkasse der Stadt Belgard, issued this Notgeld during the acute small-change shortage that gripped Germany in the early 1920s. The 75 Pfennig denomination is characteristic of that period's fractional emergency issues, where municipalities plugged gaps left by a hoarding public stripping coins from circulation.
Carl Flemming & T. C. Wiskott A.G. in Glogau was one of the more prolific Notgeld printers of the era, supplying dozens of municipal and savings institution clients across Silesia and Pomerania. The Glogau reference in the data reflects the printing location; Glogau itself is now Głogów, Poland.
