Obverse description Printed in blue-grey tones in a Jugendstil letterpress style, the obverse is enclosed within an elaborate scrollwork and acanthus-leaf border framing a central heraldic cartouche bearing the red eagle arms of Nörenberg. The denomination is set in large Gothic blackletter script at the top, with the issuer inscription 'Notgeld d. Stadt Nörenberg' on a horizontal band across the cartouche. Serial number, the date 'ANNO 1921', and the facsimile signature of Der Magistrat are arranged along the lower margin.

Reverse description The reverse is dominated by a large scenic vignette by Rob. Koch, in which a fantastical red crayfish rides astride a rearing white horse galloping across a marshy landscape, with a lakeside town and church spire receding into the background. The denomination '75 Pfg.' appears in red at both upper corners. A framed stanza in German Gothic script at the lower left recounts the local legend of the great crayfish, with the printer's imprint set in small type along the lower margin.
