Friesack is a small Brandenburg market town with a population that barely exceeded 2,000 in the early 1920s, which makes its participation in the Notgeld phenomenon entirely typical of the period — municipalities across Germany issued emergency small-denomination scrip between 1918 and 1922 to plug the chronic coin shortage that followed the war. The Magistrat had no printing infrastructure of its own; these notes were almost certainly contracted to a regional commercial printer, as was standard practice for towns of this size.
The 75 Pfennig denomination is among the more common Notgeld values, driven by practical everyday transaction needs rather than any particular monetary policy decision.
