Neinstedt is a small village in the Harz region, and like hundreds of similarly modest German municipalities it issued Notgeld during the inflationary spiral of the early 1920s — not out of civic pride but out of sheer necessity, as small-denomination Reichsmark coinage had effectively vanished from everyday commerce. The printer, Druckerei Poessl in nearby Bad Suderode, was a regional operation that serviced several of these local emergency issues, which accounts for the shared aesthetic DNA visible across notes from this corner of Saxony-Anhalt.

The DeNG reference places this within a numbered subseries, suggesting at least six design variants for this denomination alone — unusually prolific output for a settlement of Neinstedt's size.
