Frücht is a small village in the Westerwald, just east of Bad Ems, and its municipal notgeld issue falls squarely within the mass-casualty phase of German emergency money — the period when thousands of Gemeinden printed their own denominations to compensate for the chronic small-change shortage caused by wartime metal hoarding and postwar monetary chaos. Hartmann of Coblenz was a regional job printer handling a significant volume of Rhineland notgeld during these years, not a specialist securities house.
The 75-Pfennig denomination is the more unusual of the typical Rhineland notgeld denominations, suggesting this series was designed as a set with specific purchasing equivalences in mind rather than issued reactively.
