Telfs is a market town in the Inn Valley west of Innsbruck, and like hundreds of Austrian municipalities it issued Notgeld during the severe coin shortages that followed the collapse of the Habsburg economy. The 75 Heller denomination is slightly unusual — most municipal issues clustered around rounder values — suggesting Telfs was trying to cover a specific transactional gap in local commerce rather than simply filling a standard denominations set.
Wagner of Innsbruck was a regional commercial printer, not a specialist banknote firm, which is typical of Tyrolean municipal issues from this period.
