St. Johann in Tirol issued Heller-denomination notgeld during the acute coin shortage that gripped Austria from around 1916 onward, when metal was being pulled from circulation for the war effort. Wagner in Innsbruck handled a substantial volume of Tyrolean municipal emergency issues during this period, making their output regionally coherent but individually unexceptional from a printing standpoint.
The 75 Heller denomination is among the less common face values in Austrian notgeld — most municipalities defaulted to round figures. Whether St. Johann issued this to cover a specific transactional gap or simply to complete a set is unclear from surviving records.
