Fieberbrunn is a small market town in the Tyrolean Pillersee valley, and like hundreds of other Austrian municipalities in 1919, it resorted to printing its own emergency currency — Notgeld — after the collapse of the Habsburg state left the new Republic of German-Austria with a catastrophic coin shortage. The Wagner printing house in Innsbruck produced notes for numerous Tyrolean communities during this period, essentially running a cottage industry in local scrip.
The 75 Heller denomination is among the more unusual values in Austrian municipal Notgeld; most issuers kept to round figures. Whether Fieberbrunn had specific change requirements or simply wanted a complete set for collector sales — already a consideration by 1919 — is not documented.
