Bruck im Pinzgau is a small Alpine municipality in the Salzburg region, and this 75 Heller note belongs to the vast wave of Austrian Notgeld issued between 1919 and 1922 when postwar coin shortages left local communities effectively without small change. Gemeinden across Austria printed their own emergency cardboard denominations, often in runs of just a few hundred or thousand pieces, redeemable locally and theoretically withdrawable once coinage returned.
The signature of Bürgermeister Anton Posch gives it municipal authority. Many Pinzgau-area Notgeld issues were never formally redeemed — the administrative burden wasn't worth it for villages this small.
