Additional information

Canada's platinum bullion program launched in 1988 with the Maple Leaf series, but the RCM introduced these fractional wildlife issues in 1990 as a higher-premium alternative aimed at collectors rather than bullion stackers. The Peregrine Falcon appeared across multiple denominations in the 1996 set, with the $75 representing the half-ounce equivalent tier in a four-coin series ranging from $30 to $300.

The Peregrine had particular resonance in Canada by the mid-1990s — the species had been listed under Canadian endangered species protections following DDT-driven population collapse, and recovery efforts were still ongoing at the time of issue.
