| Reverse description | A single large, highly detailed maple leaf rendered in high relief occupies the central field, with finely engraved veining across the entire surface. The designer's initials 'JK' appear to the lower right of the leaf, while a circled '30' anniversary privy mark is struck to the lower left. The dates '1988' and '2018' flank the leaf vertically on either side, commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Platinum Maple Leaf series. The purity designation '9995' and the bilingual legend 'PLATINUM 1/4 OZ PLATINE' appear along the lower periphery, with 'CANADA' arching across the top. |

| Additional information |
The Maple Leaf bullion program launched in 1979 with gold, but the platinum version didn't follow until 1988 — making 2018 the series' 30th anniversary. Canada was among the first sovereign mints to issue a platinum bullion coin commercially, entering the market well ahead of the American Platinum Eagle, which wouldn't appear until 1997.
