Obverse description Central field features the Portuguese Royal Coat of Arms rendered in low relief in the cast style typical of Portuguese Indian colonial coinage. The shield is depicted within a decorative border or inner circle, with the mint letters D and O flanking the arms to the left and right respectively, denoting the Diu (Dio) mint. The overall design is characteristic of the crude cast technique employed at the Diu mint during the reign of João V.
