The $70 denomination was struck purely to mark the Platinum Jubilee — a commemorative face value with no practical transaction utility, issued well after Elizabeth II's death in September 2022. That timing makes it an odd artifact: a jubilee note for a monarch who did not live to see it printed.

De La Rue produced the physical note at their Gateshead facility, though the firm's historic London address appears in the official citation. TBB#227a indicates a single signature variety within the series.
