| Obverse description | Four large Chữ Hán characters arranged in cruciform fashion around a central decorative motif: 紹 (Thiệu) above, 治 (Trị) below, 通 (Thông) to the right, and 寶 (Bảo) to the left, reading 紹治通寶 — the reign title and monetary inscription of Emperor Thiệu Trị. At the center, a stylized conch shell or floral rosette in relief serves as the focal ornament, rendered with fine curvilinear detail. The flat, unbordered field shows the characteristic hammered technique of Vietnamese Nguyễn dynasty silver coinage. |
