| Obverse description | The obverse presents the four-character reign title legend 嗣德通寶 arranged in cruciform fashion around a central square hole, reading top-bottom-right-left in the traditional Vietnamese-Chinese numismatic convention. The characters are rendered in bold, deeply incused relief within a plain, unadorned field. A raised circular rim frames the entire design, consistent with the large-format silver cash coinage of the Nguyễn dynasty. The calligraphic style is formal and authoritative, reflecting the imperial workshop standards of Emperor Tự Đức's reign. |
