Additional information

Minh Mạng's reign saw an aggressive centralization of Vietnamese coinage, and the 7 tiền denomination sits near the top of a deliberately tiered silver series the emperor formalized in the early 1830s. The "with year" varieties — KM#194 and KM#195 carrying cyclical date inscriptions — were struck across a narrow four-year window, distinguishing them from the undated issues and making precise attribution dependent on reading the can-chi characters correctly.

Minh Mạng died in 1841, and the monetary framework he built was progressively disrupted by his successors and, eventually, French colonial intervention.
