Obverse description Central field bears four large Chinese ideograms arranged in a cross pattern reading top-to-bottom and right-to-left, flanked by Manchu script characters at centre. The entire central device is encircled by a continuous band of Chinese ideograms forming the provincial and denominational legend. The design reflects the bilingual conventions of late Qing imperial coinage, incorporating both Chinese and Manchu scripts as required by dynastic protocol.
