Obverse description Uniface emergency issue struck on a roughly rectangular lead planchet. The denomination '7 KR' appears prominently within a rectangular cartouche, flanked below by two crossed swords symbolizing military authority. The legend 'MILIT' appears to the left, indicating the military context of issue, while the date '1799' is inscribed above. The inscription and devices are arranged in a utilitarian fashion consistent with siege coinage produced under field conditions.

Additional information

Týn nad Vltavou issued emergency coinage in 1799 during the threat posed by French military movements through Central Europe — a period when conventional supply chains for coin metal had broken down entirely. Lead was pressed into service precisely because it was available locally and easily cast without specialized minting infrastructure. These siege pieces were never intended to outlast the emergency, which is part of why survivors in any condition are genuinely scarce.

Herber #28 is among the better-documented of the Týn issues, but the series as a whole remains poorly represented in major reference collections.
