Reverse description The reverse depicts an elaborate ceremonial scene of the translation of relics, set before a tiered Baroque shrine or reliquary altar surmounted by a radiant sunburst. A procession of mitred bishops and clergy in full ecclesiastical vestments surrounds the central altar, with two officiating figures prominently positioned in the foreground performing a liturgical rite. The composition conveys the solemnity of the translation ceremony of Saints Rupert and Virgil, patron saints of Salzburg, conducted on 24 September 1628. The surrounding Latin legend, enclosed within a beaded border, identifies the patron saints and the date of the translation ceremony.
