Obverse description Youthful laureate and draped bust of Maximilian I facing right, his long hair flowing beneath a laurel wreath, wearing an ornate jewelled collar over armour. The inscription ÆTATIS 19 appears in the field to either side of the effigy, denoting his age. The circumferential Latin legend runs along the beaded border, identifying him as Archduke of Austria and Burgundy. The portrait is rendered in a refined Renaissance medallic style, characteristic of the Hall mint's production under Ferdinand I.
