Reverse description Three lines of bold Arabic calligraphic inscription occupy the central field within a wreath of olive or palm branches that frames the entire design. The uppermost line bears the name of the Bey Muhammad, followed by the mint designation Tunis (بتونس), and below that the Islamic Hijri date in Eastern Arabic numerals. A small ornamental device appears at the base of the wreath below the date. The legends are thick and prominently raised, characteristic of the so-called thick legend variety.
