Issued to commemorate the centenary of the Thai Ministry of Finance, founded in 1875 under King Chulalongkorn (Rama V) as part of his sweeping modernization of Siamese state institutions. The ministry's establishment was itself a direct response to pressure from European colonial powers demanding accountable, Western-style fiscal administration from Bangkok.
