Obverse description The Portuguese Royal Arms, surmounted by a crown, occupies the central field. The shield displays the traditional quinas arrangement of the Kingdom of Portugal, with the bordure of castles, rendered in a simplified style characteristic of colonial Goa Mint coinage. No surrounding legend appears on this face, consistent with the broader series of Maria II copper issues for Portuguese India.
