Reverse description Reverse displays the coat of arms of Spain printed in dark brown ink on the plain cardboard surface. The shield is quartered with the traditional Castilian castle and Leonese lion in opposing quarters, flanked on either side by the Pillars of Hercules, each bearing a scroll with the motto PLUS ULTRA. The heraldic composition is rendered in a simplified, printed style consistent with the emergency wartime production of these encased stamp issues. No additional legends appear beyond the motto on the Pillars of Hercules.
