Obverse description Central field displays the crowned quartered arms of Zwolle, featuring a complex heraldic shield divided into multiple quarters with varied charges, surmounted by a small escutcheon at the top. The shield is set within an inner beaded circle, with the surrounding field plain. A Latin circular legend runs along the outer border between the beaded inner circle and the coin's rim, reading MONE · ARG · IMPERIA · CIVITA · ZWOL, affirming the coin's status as the silver coinage of the imperial city of Zwolle. The overall design is characteristic of late sixteenth-century Dutch municipal hammered coinage, with bold but somewhat irregular die workmanship.
