| Obverse description | Central field displays the crowned arms of Zwolle — a shield bearing the city's heraldic device — surmounted by a mural crown, rendered in the angular, flat-relief style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Dutch municipal coinage. The shield is positioned prominently in the centre of the flan, with the crown rising to the upper edge. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, reading MONE · ARG · IMPERIA · CIVIT · ZWO, identifying the piece as a silver coin of the imperial city of Zwolle. The strike is typical of hammered production, resulting in a slightly irregular flan with some weakness at the margins. |
