Reverse description A large three-masted Dutch man-of-war (fluyt or clipper ship) depicted sailing to the right, rendered in fine detail with full rigging, multiple sails, pennants and flags flying from the masts, and waves beneath the hull. The ship fills the central field in an impressive, high-relief composition characteristic of Holland provincial maritime coinage. A circular Latin legend surrounds the entire design, separated from the rim by a beaded border. The reverse device gives this type its popular collector name 'Scheepjesschelling' (little ship schelling).
