Reverse description A fully-rigged three-masted Dutch sailing vessel (scheepje) rendered in fine detail, depicted underway with sails billowing and flags flying from the mastheads, riding stylized waves in the lower field. The ship is shown in three-quarter profile, with intricate rigging and hull ornamentation characteristic of late 17th-century Dutch maritime engraving. The circular Latin legend VIGILATE DEO CONFIDENTES encircles the design along the beaded rim, reading from the lower left, interrupted at the top by the mast of the vessel. The overall composition reflects the strong maritime identity of the Dutch Republic.
