The rider raises a drawn sword in his right hand, a posture emblematic of the 'rijder' (rider) type standard to Dutch provincial coinage of this era. The execution is typical of hammered provincial Dutch silver, with somewhat uneven relief and a characteristic irregular flan edge. |
