| Reverse description | A fully armored knight on horseback charges to the right, the horse depicted in full gallop. The rider raises a drawn sword in his right hand, a posture emblematic of the 'rijder' (rider) type standard to Dutch provincial coinage of this era. The date appears at the end of the circumferential Latin legend, which encircles the entire design. The execution is typical of hammered provincial Dutch silver, with somewhat uneven relief and a characteristic irregular flan edge. |
