Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of George III facing right, rendered in high relief with finely detailed flowing hair and laurel wreath, engraved by Conrad Heinrich Küchler whose initials C.H.K. appear on the bust truncation. The portrait exhibits the characteristically neoclassical style associated with Küchler's work at the Soho Mint. The circumferential legend reads GEORGIUS III DEI GRATIA REX, separated by a stop, running from lower left to lower right around the effigy. The fields are broad and the coin is bordered by a prominent milled edge visible from the obverse.
