Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Ferdinand VII of Spain facing right, occupying the central field of this Mexican 8 Reales host coin. The encircling legend reads FERDIN · VII · DEI · GRATIA · with the date 1818 positioned in the lower exergue. Two incuse countermarks applied by British Honduras authorities are struck upon the bust: a small crowned GR royal cypher in script below, and a crowned motif above, both authenticating the coin for local circulation. The coin's milled border runs along the entire circumference.
