Obverse description Six-fold quartered coat of arms surmounted by a crowned helmet, displaying the heraldic devices of the Duchy of Saxe-Eisenach. The abbreviated legend F.S.E. L.M. is divided and appears to either side of the crown in the upper field, rendered in Latin script. The shield incorporates multiple heraldic charges including the Saxon barry with rampant lion, typical of the Ernestine line of the House of Wettin. The overall design is characteristic of early eighteenth-century German minting style.
