Obverse description Central field features an elaborate crowned ducal cypher of Francis Josias, composed of intertwined initials rendered in baroque script within an ornate foliate cartouche with scrollwork flanking either side. A royal crown surmounts the cypher at the top. The legend F. S. S. M. (Franciscus, Saxoniae, Saalfeldiae, Marchio or similar ducal title abbreviation) is distributed in the field to the left and right of the crowned cypher. The coin exhibits a milled border with fine dentilation.
