Obverse description Quartered shield of arms displaying the Anhalt bear and the Saxon barry field, surmounted by a princely crown with cross finial. The escutcheon is set within an elaborate foliate and palm-branch mantling that extends across the full field. The heraldic eagle of Anhalt occupies the dexter quarter, rendered in fine relief against the hatched field. The overall composition is executed in the restrained Baroque style typical of mid-eighteenth-century German coinage. The coin border features a fine beaded inner rim.
