| Obverse description | Veiled and crowned effigy of Queen Victoria facing left, known as the 'Jubilee Head', modelled by Joseph Edgar Boehm. The queen is depicted wearing a small imperial crown and a widow's veil, with drapery at the shoulder. A continuous legend encircles the bust, and the engraver's initials 'J.E.B.' appear below the truncation. The portrait is rendered in a restrained neoclassical style characteristic of late Victorian coinage. A toothed border frames the entire design. |
